Sarah White joins Criminal Defence Team

Sarah White has a keen interest in people and providing a safe place for clients as they navigate the justice system. Sarah is joining Patterson Law’s criminal law team as an associate.

Sarah approaches each case with a goal to understand her client. “It's important to understand people's interests and expectations of the criminal justice system. I tend to have very close working relationships with my clients and they get a lot of access to me.”

Sarah also has a deserved reputation as a tough lawyer, lucky for her clients. “Clients appreciate respect and knowing someone’s in their corner,” she says. “Often times people involved in criminal proceedings are pre-judged. I don’t judge.”

Although early in her career, Sarah has amassed an enviable list of experience. According to George White, managing partner at Patterson Law, she’s got a bright future with the firm. “She has appeared at every level of court in Nova Scotia and has worked on homicide files,” he says. “She shows her love of trial work, litigation and negotiation in every action she takes on behalf of her clients. She will do great things with Patterson Law.”

Sarah’s choice of firm is not an accident. She will work with a well-established team of criminal lawyers that includes Mike Scott and Stan MacDonald. “Finding a firm that takes a down-to-earth approach and puts client service first was a top priority for me,” says Sarah.

When she is not spending time with her young family, she serves on the national board of directors for the Smart Justice Network which addresses criminal justice issues by focusing on the connection between crime and mental health, addiction, employment, education, housing and social inclusion.

Sarah joins Patterson Law from Newton & Associates. She represents clients charged with offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. She will be located in the Halifax office.
