Heidi Walsh Sampson appointed to NS Securities Commission
Patterson Law lawyer Heidi Walsh-Sampson has been appointed the newest commissioner at the Province’s securities regulator. Appointed to a three-year term, Heidi sits alongside co-worker and Securities Commission chair Paul Radford, who is also a corporate lawyer at Patterson Law.
As a member of Patterson Law’s corporate/commercial team, Heidi acts as corporate legal counsel to various clients on a full–range of legal and business issues, including governance, acquisitions and sales, corporate reorganizations and incorporations.
Prior to joining Patterson Law, Heidi practiced securities law with a major national law firm in both Calgary and Vancouver. Her experience there included working on a variety of securities transactions including initial public offerings, private placements, prospectus filings, ongoing reporting issuer filings. She completed a Masters of Law at Osgoode Hall specializing in securities law.
Since returning to Nova Scotia, Heidi continued to represent public issuers and she has also been the independent legal counsel to a strategic review committee for a mutual fund throughout the negotiations of a new management agreement with the fund’s manager, as well as representing the SRC in connection with the fund’s restructuring.
Heidi’s role as a commissioner will increase her administrative/regulatory knowledge, further strengthening her ability to guide clients in those matters.
