Kate Harris appointed as Queen’s Counsel

The firm is very proud to congratulate Kate Harris on her appointment as Queen’s Counsel.
Kate is a partner of Patterson Law and a member of our firm’s management team. In her 27 years of practice, she has developed a solid reputation of excellence assisting business owners achieve their goals in the areas of business structuring, tax minimization, trusts and estate planning. In her capacity as chair of Patterson Law’s corporate/commercial group and member of our management committee, Kate provides leadership on all levels and has been integral to the growth and success of our firm.
With a lifelong passion for teaching, Kate was a part-time professor at Dalhousie Law School for over 20 years and is often asked to present to such groups as the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Canadian Bar Association, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia. Kate also has a passion for the law and is very involved in mentoring and sharing knowledge with young associates and other professional advisors who regularly consult with her to assist with tax planning and corporate restructuring for their clients.
The Queen’s Counsel designation is given to lawyers who demonstrate professional integrity, good character and excellence in the practice of law. It also recognizes their outstanding service, dedication and commitment to the legal profession in Nova Scotia. Kate was recognized with this distinction for her many contributions to the firm, to our clients and to the community, and is a very worthy recipient of this honour.
