Professional Liability

We have the experience it takes to handle claims involving legal malpractice, accounting malpractice, dental malpractice, and pharmaceutical malpractice.

We represent lawyers, accountants and other professionals in malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty actions, provincial and federal class action suits, securities fraud litigation, arbitrations, and complex commercial litigation.

Our firm also represents defendants in director and officer liability actions (both for-profit and not-for-profit) and defendants in public entities and official’s liability actions. We have served as litigation counsel to professional associations, limited liability partnerships, limited partnerships and general partnerships, on behalf of their shareholders, members, and partners, and are well suited to represent collection professionals and collection lawyers.

We are regularly retained by insurance companies. Our lawyers are familiar with the various insurance companies’ litigation guidelines. We provide regular case budget plans and status reports to our clients and, if appropriate, to their insurance carriers when defending a professional liability action. We understand and recognize the relationships that exist between an insured professional and the insurance company, and view both entities as integral parts of the litigation team. Once retained, we gather the information necessary so that a meaningful liability and damage analysis can be conducted right from the start. We believe that early mediation and the filing of proposals for settlements are useful tools in the defense and successful resolution of professional liability actions.
