Morgan Jarvis joins Corporate Team

Patterson Law is pleased to welcome Morgan L. Jarvis as an associate lawyer in our Truro office. Morgan will add to the depth of Patterson Law’s corporate/commercial practice with his experience in information technology and biotechnology commercialization and intellectual property.

Before joining Patterson Law, Morgan rowed for Canada in the London Summer Olympics, taught law students and ran a start-up legal clinic at Queen’s University. He was responsible for intellectual property protection and commercialization at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, and was an Associate at a large international law firm.

Morgan particularly enjoys affordably helping start-ups and small businesses get their operations up and running. “Having been a leader in the development of a business start-up clinic at Queen’s University,” says partner Jennifer Hamilton Upham, “Morgan can provide valuable guidance to new and existing clients on their new business start ups.”

Morgan also advises on intellectual property, considering what’s patentable or subject to copyright, and what’s best kept a trade-secret. He enjoys advising on branding strategy, helping clients select and protect the best trade-marks to build their valuable goodwill around.

According to Jennifer, Morgan’s experience with one of the major intellectual property firms in Ottawa adds real value to Patterson’s business clients. “We are pleased he will be able to assist in technology protection and transfers in an increasingly digital business environment.”
