Patterson Law Expands Legal Team with Three New Lawyers in September

Patterson Law is excited to announce the addition of three talented lawyers to its growing team. Sara Racicot, Lama El Azrak, and Daisy Fitzgerald have joined the firm’s Halifax office, elevating Patterson Law’s legal strength for serving clients across Nova Scotia.

Lama El Azrak – Corporate/Commercial Lawyer

Lama El Azrak joins the firm’s Halifax office as a corporate and commercial lawyer, where she will focus on advising businesses on transactions and growth strategies.

Lama holds a Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law, a Bachelor of Journalism with Honours from the University of King’s College, and a Master of Public Administration from Dalhousie University. During law school, she was actively involved in advocacy and legal aid work.

“Joining Patterson Law feels like coming home,” says El Azrak. “As a Nova Scotian, I’m proud to contribute to the community and support local businesses in their growth. My time at Patterson during a secondment allowed me to experience firsthand the firm’s commitment to its lawyers and staff—it’s a collegial environment that feels like family, and I’m excited to be part of that.”

Daisy Fitzgerald – Litigation Lawyer

Daisy Fitzgerald, a litigation lawyer with a passion for complex commercial disputes, joins Patterson Law’s Halifax office. Her practice will focus on commercial litigation, including contract disputes, tort matters, and class actions.

Daisy earned her J.D. from the University of Victoria in 2022 and graduated with distinction from Dalhousie University in 2019 with a B.A. in Political Science. During law school, she contributed as both a teaching and research assistant.

“After five years on the West Coast, I’m excited to return to Nova Scotia and join a firm with such strong provincial roots,” says Fitzgerald. “I’m eager to learn from Patterson Law’s accomplished team of litigators and contribute to the firm’s reputation for excellence in litigation.”

Sara Racicot – Litigation Lawyer

Sara Racicot, a skilled litigation lawyer, joins the firm’s Halifax office with a focus on estate litigation.

She brings a wealth of international experience, having studied in Canada, the UK, and Ireland. Sara earned her Bachelor of Arts with Honours from Bishop’s University in 2020, followed by an LL.B. from Queen’s University Belfast in 2022, and an LL.M. from the University of Toronto in 2023.

“I’m thrilled to return to my hometown and serve its people after spending significant time away for my education,” says Racicot. “The diverse experiences I gained while studying and working abroad will enable me to connect more deeply with Patterson’s wide-ranging clients across the province. I look forward to using these experiences to build meaningful and lasting relationships.”

Patterson Law is proud to welcome Sara Racicot, Lama El Azrak, and Daisy Fitzgerald, who will further strengthen the firm’s ability to serve clients across Nova Scotia. With a focus on client-centric service and a deep commitment to community, Patterson Law continues to expand its legacy of legal excellence.

“We’re excited to welcome Sara, Lama, and Daisy to Patterson Law,” says Co-Managing Partners Kate Harris, KC, TEP, and Jennifer Hamilton Upham, TEP, in a joint statement. “They’re not just outstanding new lawyers with impressive credentials—each of them brings a fresh perspective and an energy that we know will benefit both our clients and our team. Moreover, their shared commitment to serving the Nova Scotia community aligns perfectly with our values as a firm. We’re looking forward to seeing how they’ll challenge us, push boundaries, and contribute to the evolving legal landscape here.”
