Patterson Law Welcomes Lawyers Mark Wiseman and Eryn Heidel to the Firm

Patterson Law is pleased to announce the addition of Lawyers Mark Wiseman and Eryn Heidel to the firm. Mark joins Patterson Law’s Corporate Commercial Group in New Glasgow, while Eryn joins the Family Law Group in the firm’s Truro office.

Mark Wiseman
Corporate & Commercial (New Glasgow Office)
Mark brings more than two decades of senior in-house and General Counsel experience to Patterson Law. His career spans several of Atlantic Canada’s largest private-sector organizations and the Nova Scotia public sector, where he has led comprehensive legal portfolios intersecting regulatory compliance, governance, business operations, and risk management.
His experience includes environmental and regulatory compliance, corporate governance, franchising, mergers and acquisitions, procurement, and enterprise-level technology implementations. Mark has overseen national legal teams and has advised executive leadership on privacy modernization, cybersecurity strategies, and artificial intelligence governance ensuring organizational innovation progresses in accordance with evolving legal requirements and best practices.

At Patterson Law, Mark’s practice will focus on corporate and commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, governance, and regulatory compliance. He will support clients in structuring complex agreements, assessing and mitigating risk, and integrating legal considerations within operational and technology-driven initiatives.
Mark holds an LL.B. from Dalhousie University, an M.Env.Sc. from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a B.Sc. (Biochemistry) from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Eryn Heidel
Family Law (Truro Office)
Eryn joins Patterson Law’s Truro office as part of the Family Law Group, bringing a client-focused approach grounded in interest-based dispute resolution. Originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland, she relocated to Truro in 2020 and has become an active member of the local community. Where settlement is not possible, Eryn is a vigorous and tireless advocate for her clients in court.
“I am thrilled to be working in the community I have called home for the past five years,” says Heidel. “Truro has done so much for me, and I want to give back as much as I can in my work and my free time. I look forward to growing my practice and my career with Patterson Law, a firm that embodies values that I hold dear, like steadfast ethics, compassion, professionalism, and community service.”
Eryn completed her Bachelor of Arts (English and French) and Master of Arts in English at Memorial University of Newfoundland, with her graduate studies supported by a competitive SSHRC grant. She later obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa, graduating with distinction in 2022.
During her legal studies, Eryn participated in and facilitated moots, academic conferences, and student programs. In her final year of law school, she was a member of the first-place team at the Walsh Family Law Moot, demonstrating strong advocacy and analytical skills.
