Welcome Three New Associates

In a year characterized by steady growth, Patterson Law has hired three new associates who will bring their considerable legal minds, capabilities and perspectives to our Truro and Halifax offices.
Heather Wyse is joining the litigation group in Halifax, Sylvie Theriault joins the corporate/commercial team in Truro and Kristy MacKinnon will focus on family law, commercial litigation, and labour and employment in Truro.
“We try to bring in down-to-earth people with sharp legal minds – people our clients just feel comfortable working with,” says George White, Managing Partner. “These associates fit the bill perfectly.”
Kristy MacKinnon was not only a distinguished scholar, winning multiple academic awards, but she was devoted to community involvement as an active volunteer during law school, helping to make legal information more accessible to Nova Scotians. Those accomplishments plus her low-key, cheerful nature are going to add to the client service culture in Truro, according to George.
Sylvie Theriault chose to complete her legal studies at Université de Moncton so she could practice law in both French and English. The extra demands of her choice were recognized when she was awarded various bursaries for scholastic achievement. Sylvie can be found outdoors in her off-hours, golfing, skiing and camping. George maintains that such well-rounded associates help Patterson Law keep its sensible and unassuming culture in place.
Heather Wyse hails from St. John’s, Newfoundland, and comes to Patterson Law after a career in public relations, most recently working for the IWK Health Centre in Halifax. Heather is a dedicated gym-goer. George says she brings that same dedication and work ethic to her professional life.
“Heather, Sylvie and Kristy really embody the values with which we operate our firm – integrity, responsiveness and a strong work ethic,” says Jennifer Upham, Partner and Associate Head for Patterson Law. “We’ve really hit a rhythm in bringing on the right fit of people.”
