Biography

Rachel is committed to developing a law practice focused on supporting individuals through complex and meaningful legal challenges. Her current practice includes family law, civil litigation, and estate litigation. She aspires to build a practice focused on providing helpful and effective support to her clients. Rachel is driven to provide practical, thoughtful, and effective support that reflects the unique circumstances of each client, recognizing the importance of a contextual and individualized approach.

Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Rachel maintains a strong connection to her community while also valuing opportunities to travel and gain broader perspectives through experiences across Canada and internationally. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Acadia University, with a double major in Politics and Psychology, and a Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University. At Acadia, Rachel completed an honours thesis entitled “Gender Disparity Trends in the Canadian Legal Profession: A Case Study of Nova Scotia Lawyers”. Her research examined and highlighted the persistent barriers faced by women in the legal profession, barriers that Patterson Law LLP actively works to overcome, as reflected in its predominantly female partnership, where women can see themselves represented in positions of leadership, mentorship, and guidance. It is for this reason and many others, that Rachel chose to begin her legal career with Patterson Law LLP, first joining the firm as a receptionist during the summer prior to beginning law school and continuing her professional development with the firm as a summer student and then as an Articled Clerk before returning as an Associate Lawyer, building her practice within a firm whose values align closely with her own. She has a strong commitment to continuous learning, consistently seeking opportunities to expand her knowledge and refine her skills. Rachel is dedicated to building a thoughtful and responsive legal practice, grounded in professionalism, integrity, and a genuine commitment to achieving meaningful outcomes for her clients.
