Patterson Law Announces Two New Partners

Lawyers Julia Maloney and Paul Wadden to Join Partnership

Patterson Law is pleased to announce the admittance of Julia Maloney and Paul Wadden to the firm’s partnership, effective January 1, 2026.

Julia Maloney focuses her practice on residential real estate and estate planning, assisting clients at every stage of homeownership. She represents purchasers, sellers, lenders, and homeowners, with particular experience in new home construction, condominium purchases, and transactions for clients relocating to or from Nova Scotia. Julia is also experienced in title migrations, subdivisions, rights-of-way, and foreclosure matters, and regularly assists clients with wills, powers of attorney, personal directives, and probate administration.

“I am thrilled to join the partnership of a firm which embodies the community spirit of Nova Scotia,” said Maloney. “As an incoming partner, I am committed to continue to uphold the standard set by Patterson Law of providing exceptional client service.”

Paul Wadden is a litigator and a leader in Patterson Law’s Construction Law Group, with a practice concentrated in construction and commercial litigation. He has extensive experience preparing and litigating builders’ liens and representing property owners, contractors, and suppliers in significant disputes. Paul also supports clients with building contracts, tendering issues, and negotiations involving utilities and major institutions. In addition, he is a leader in the firm’s Residential Tenancies Law Group, representing landlords and tenants at the Residential Tenancy Board, Small Claims Court, and the Nova Scotia Supreme Court.

“I am incredibly proud to be joining the amazing team of partners at Patterson Law,” Wadden said. “I am excited to contribute to Patterson Law’s continued growth and success, and to continue making sure my clients receive the best service possible.”

Kate D. Harris, KC, TEP, and Jennifer Hamilton Upham, TEP, Co-Managing Partners of Patterson Law, welcomed the appointments, noting:

“It’s a pleasure to recognize Julia and Paul as they join the partnership. Both have already made a meaningful mark on our firm through the quality of their work, the way they support their colleagues, and the care they show their clients. They’ve earned the trust and respect of those around them, and we’re genuinely grateful for their contributions to date. We’re looking forward to seeing them continue to grow and lead as partners.”

Patterson Law congratulates Julia and Paul as they enter the next exciting chapter of their careers in law.
