Biography
Anna-Marie Manley is a partner at Patterson Law LLP and leads the firm’s Labour and Employment group. She is based in the firm’s Truro and Halifax offices.
Anna-Marie practices employment law, municipal law, and civil litigation, with a focus on administrative proceedings.
In her employment law practice, Anna-Marie helps employers with a full gamut of workplace issues. She can assist clients with employment contracts and policies, terminations, and human rights and workplace harassment issues. She also regularly advises on workplace and employment issues arising during the purchase and sale of businesses. She is an experienced advocate before the Nova Scotia Labour Board and the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission.
Anna-Marie’s municipal practice centres on municipal governance. She advises municipalities and businesses on issues ranging from conflict of interest to freedom of information. She has acted as counsel for planning appeals and regulatory rates proceedings.
Anna-Marie represents clients before all levels of court in Nova Scotia, with a focus on judicial reviews. She also assists clients with professional discipline matters. She has appeared before the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal, the Nova Scotia Supreme Court, Small Claims Court, and a variety of professional regulators’ complaints committees.
As Patterson Law’s recruitment partner, Anna-Marie helps hire and mentor the next generation of leaders. Anna-Marie is also a member of the Meritas Emerging Leader Advisory Board and co-chair of its North America working group. She is the current vice-chair of the Board of Third Place Transition House.
