Residential Real Estate

Patterson Law’s team of lawyers provides a full range of legal advice for residential real estate transactions. With over 90 years of experience in the real estate market, we have created in-house systems to promote efficiencies and keep costs low, while still maintaining excellent client service.

We have extensive experience working with other real estate professionals, including surveyors, appraisers, banks, real estate agents, and insurers. We also regularly draft documents for the purchase, sale, financing, and leasing of real estate.

As the market evolves, we stay abreast of new developments. We have experience in condominium development and conveyances as well as the migration of titles into the Nova Scotia Land Registry system. Our Truro office was one of the first law firms in the province to operate under this system.

Our municipal and property development experience allows us to provide effective, thorough advice, from matters involving construction and development agreements, subdivision, zoning, environmental compliance, easements and rights-of-way and all other matters associated with land development.

Our real estate lawyers also work regularly with our civil litigation and construction teams, who have experience with all aspects of property litigation including expropriations, contract disputes, builder’s liens, right-of-way and easement disputes, title disputes, foreclosures and actions to enforce or defend property based security.
